Nothing But New News

Hello, Raters! We’re sorry we’ve been out of touch for a while, but it’s because we’ve been hard at work on all kinds of exciting things that we hope will improve your Rating experience and remind you how much we value your support. We’ve got a lot to share and even more to celebrate.

The first big development is the release of v1.2 for iPhone. Not only does this update fix many of the bugs you’ve been telling us about, but it’s also compatible with iOS5, meaning you can Rate from your amazing new iPhone.  You can download the update from the iTunes market. To commemorate the release, the folks at are donning their RateThis! tees while they film hilarious videos on November 13, 2011. Be sure to check it out here.

The second and most important reason to celebrate, loyal Raters, is you. We realize we would be lost without your support, so we’re launching a contest to reward our most avid fans.  It runs from November 13 to December 13, so post as many Rates as you possibly can during that time. The prizes are nothing short of amazing.

  • The Rater who uploads the most Rates will receive an iPad2
  • The runner up wins an 8GB iPod Touch.
  • The most popular Rate posted will earn the Rater a $50 iTunes gift card
  • The second most popular Rate wins a $25 iTunes gift card.

It’s the least we can do to show our appreciation. Currently this contest is only available to US-based Raters, but we’re working on a way of expanding our contestant pool.

Finally, we are on the verge of launching our new website. It’s sleek and easy to use, just like the RateThis! app. We hope you’ll turn to the site for all your RateThis! news and information. Once it’s live, we promise to keep it up to date with the latest and greatest.

So now it’s your turn, Raters, to check out what we’ve been up to and let us know what you think. Download the update, visit on the 13th and upload as many Rates as you can! We’ll let you know when the website is live. Until then, Happy Rating!

So rest assured and, as always, Happy Rating!

Don't Miss Your Chance to Win an iPod Touch

Team RateThis! here with the latest news. We are in the final week of our August contest, which ends on the 31st. Download the app and start posting Rates for your chance to win an iPod Touch or iTunes gift certificate. We’ve been having so much fun this month checking out all our feedback and going through the Rates people have uploaded. We want to thank everyone who has become an early adopter of RateThis! We couldn’t do it without you.

Our first update, v1.1, is out of beta testing. We've gone through and nixed all the little bugs and annoyances that have cropped up since we went live.  We're pretty sure we got them all, but we expect you to let us know if that’s not true.  It's currently being reviewed by Apple and should be on the App Store in a matter of days. We will keep you posted.

In other news, we just have been reviewed by 'AppStoreReviewer' on Youtube. If you are still on the fence, maybe this review will cause you to jump on over to our side. We sure hope so. Happy Rating!

Winners, Winners, Everywhere

It's been another busy week here at RateThis! Round three of our contest just ended on Monday, which means we have another two winners! The contest continues for another week, so keep Rating and posting Rates for your chance to win.

In other news, we're hard at work on updates and new versions. We are almost there with our testing of the Android version. We are hoping for a release on the Android Market within a matter of weeks. The first iPhone update is also in its final stages and should address all the little kinks and bugs our awesome Raters have brought to our attention.

Most importantly, Team RateThis! is feeling the love from our Raters. We've gotten great feedback and reviews and we just want you to know that we are so appreciative. Please continue to let us know how we can improve. Happy Rating!

Celebration Time

Hi Raters! We hope you’ve been well since we last checked in. It’s been a time of celebration all over the world: the U.S. observed its independence on July 4th and the French theirs on the 14th. There’s another commemoration happening as well- CJS co-founders Fourat Janabi and Micheal Cook are together again to mark the release of their first app- RateThis!  This has been a long time coming, so it demands an in-person meeting. It’s easy to forget the value of face time in this digital world of ours, so don’t forget to take time to honor life’s special moments together. We hope to have some fun videos, interviews and Rates to show you when the revelry dies down. Until then, Happy Rating!

We're LIVE

Cookie Jar Solutions is excited to announce that its first app, RateThis!, is live and available for download for use on iOS devices. The app can be downloaded via the Apple app store. RateThis! is designed to simplify the decision making process and make it much more exciting.

RateThis! is a new type of app based on socially interactive media. It allows the user to simplify the decision making process by crowd sourcing society. RateThis! expands on the concept behind polling sites like Hot or Not by permitting users to compare more than just people. People have a wide variety of categories into which they can post their Rates. CJS aims to expand the concept and usage of socially interactive media to add value, simplicity and fun to the lives of people.

People benefit from RateThis! by using the wisdom and opinion of crowds to help make decisions. Can’t decide whether to vacation in the Cook Islands or Fiji? Unable to choose whether you should buy a Mini Cooper or a Fiat 500? Want to know who is the front-runner in the next election? RateThis! can help answer all these questions and more.

CJS plans to release RateThis! on other platforms soon. Android will be the next release, followed by Windows Phone 7, WebOS and the Web. RateThis! is poised to become the one stop polling station of the future by providing real-time feedback on all of society's issues. The only limit is the world’s imagination.

The End of Beta

Hello, Raters!  We are so excited to announce that we are finally at the end of beta testing. It’s been a long 2 ½ months, during which we rooted out many bugs and added lots of fun new features. We have just submitted the build to Apple and are eagerly awaiting their response. We’re hoping that Apple reacts as enthusiastically as our beta testers did. Our beta testers have all told us the same thing; the app is addictive and simple to use. We have high hopes for it once it’s unleashed.

We are still working on the Android version and are about to begin our first round of beta on that platform. Developing for Android involves fewer restrictions, so we aren’t limited to 100 beta testers and we don’t have to collect anyone’s unique phone identifiers to authorize the app. We can freely share the app with anyone who would like to help us out with testing or just likes having advanced copies of apps. If you are interested in helping us beta test on Android, drop us a line and it’s as good as done.

Thanks for following our story, Raters. We hope to have many new exciting developments to share with you soon. Until then, happy Rating!

Weekly RateThis! Roundup...

Hi Raters!

Happy Friday! Team RateThis! checking in with the latest developments... We're in the final stages of submitting the app to Apple and we are both excited and frustrated, like a kid the night before their birthday. We just want then to be now already! Have you ever felt that way?

Occasionally the reality hits us- we're days away from being live. Wow!  All the hard work and brainstorming and conference calls at crazy hours are about to be put to the test. Was it worth it? You tell us. We are dying to hear what you think.

But, before you go off into the Rating world, let us offer some tips we've learned along the way:

1. Take care with your pictures. You don't have to be Patrick McMullen or Herb Ritts, but do try to get a good picture of both items up for Rating.

2. If you want to see rapid movement in your Rating social status, post a lot of Rates. It sounds obvious, but we want to make sure we're clear.

3. Have fun.  This app is exactly what you make it, so take it and run with it. Surprise us and have a great time out there, Raters.

We'll definitely let you know more as we get closer to being live. Until then, thanks for coming along on this ride with us. We are so excited to see what happens next.

Beta! Moving Forward

Greetings Raters,

This week has been dedicated to the closed beta of RateThis! during which we've encountered the usual beta associated problems. But that's why we're beta testing in the first place - to get rid of the bugs, glitches and other sundry annoyances before we hit the App Store and Android Market. We're still convinced that RateThis! is going to be amazing and we can't thank our closed beta testers enough for helping us get there. We've gotten lots of positive responses and we're looking forward to moving into open beta soon. If anybody reading this would like to be part of that phase, drop me a line at ''.

Internationalism! Moving Abroad and Beta

RateThis! has moved to Italy in what might have been the easiest move on record because everything is in the cloud. All I had to do was pack up my bags and hope on a plane. Micheal remains in Bahrain, but expects to travel to the US soon.

We are just now starting to ramp up to beta. We're a week behind schedule, but inspiration struck and we decided to implement our new ideas immediately instead of waiting for the first update. I'm sure everybody will approve because it all makes for a smoother user experience. If anyone would like to be part of the open beta, send me an email on '' and I'll get you added.

With that, I am off to explore the beautiful streets of Rome, scope out some new Rates for the beta and enjoy some delicious gelato. Ciao!

The Founders! Who Are We & Our First App

So the title is a little misleading, since we can't describe our first app, but it will be on the App Store within 2 months of this post, [shamelessly trying to drive traffic to this post]. You do know the name of our app from the title of this account, and am sure you can guess its basic functionality.

Here's a little information about us for those who are interested, I am Fourat Janabi and together with my business partner Micheal Cook. We are the founders of CookieJar Solutions. We began CookieJar Solutions to develop unique smartphone applications with innovative user interfaces and groundbreaking ideas. We aim to deliver the core functions of our apps in the most simplistic and straightforward manner. We hope you will love our first app which is due on the App Store in less than 2 months. Here's a little about us for those who are interested.

We have been close friends since we met in Baghdad's Green Zone in June 2007. We are both nomads who love travelling around the world. We are currently in Bahrain (Yes, we witnessed the protests and got into a few hairy situations). I am moving the app development operation to Italy soon, and Mike will be handling marketing from the States in the hear future.

We came up with our first app idea way back in 2008 but it took us a while to get to work. Once we got moving however, it was full steam ahead. In Oct of 2010, we incorporated in Nevada and established our LLC. We began working on our first app, RateThis! immediately thereafter. We are currently at Alpha Build now, heading to Closed Beta soon, followed by an Open Beta. We can't say too much now, but stayed tuned for updates!

Thats it from us for now. We'll be on your smartphones soon.

-Fourat & Mike

RateThis! Building a new type of Social Media

CookieJar Solutions LLC has been up and running for a few months now. Our first App RateThis! is going to be a new type of social media: Social Interactive Media. No longer will you be just an observer into your friends life, but an active participant in many more ways than you can imagine (or even we can imagine).

RateThis! will be on the iPhone / Android / WebOS / Win7 marketplaces in phased deployments. We are really excited about this app. We are currently at Alpha Build commencing to Beta within 2 weeks. If all goes well, we should be up on the iPhone App Store within 2 months, rolling out to the other app stores in due time.

Stay tuned for more info!
